From Kelly Piper, Board President
Dear Corbett Water User,
The Corbett Water District Budget Committee has recommended to the Board of Commissioners that our water rates be adjusted to keep pace with inflation. Since there was no rate increase last year, this would reflect increases in the cost of living over the last two years. The increase will follow the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate and apply to both the base rate and water usage.

The Corbett Water staff has done an excellent job of stretching existing funding as far as possible. We’ve invested a lot to attract and train high-performing staff, which is reflected in the quality work that is performed. A minimal cost of living increase, keeping up with inflation, will help us retain staff, cement operational gains, and begin the planning and engineering work necessary to sustain and protect the system in future years.

Our water system is an intrinsic part of everything that makes our community safe and livable. The system belongs to us, and it is up to us to decide how to care for and manage it. We, your elected water commissioners, want to hear your views. Please contact clerk@corbettwater.com or join the rate hearing on April 15th at 5:30pm to let us know your thoughts.

Sara Grigsby Leaves the Corbett Water District Board
Sara has been an indispensable voice on the board for eight years. She has spent countless hours helping staff navigate policies, writing an Emergency Response Plan, and making sure key details from the January 2024 storm were collected. She will be missed!

From Ana Linden, Manager
My first priority upon being hired to manage Corbett Water two and a half years ago was to professionalize the office and operations. We’ve made some real progress.
● Corbett Water’s Steve Young and Alivia Pence have completed training to conduct backflow testing and mainline valve maintenance increasing the system’s safety and reliability.
● Thanks to Corbett Water staff Keith Bunnell we now have a computerized Geographical Information System (GIS) to help support our system planning and maintenance.
● Working with our administrative staff, Kelsey Zavoral and Heather McGivney, we have created Standard Operating Procedures for the office to optimize billing, payroll, and accounts payable and receivable.
● We’ve repaired the Corbett Water District office building, and we’ve recruited volunteers to help with a range of tasks from watershed management to grant writing.
None of this would have been possible without the help and guidance of the Corbett Water District Board of Commissioners. My staff and I are deeply grateful for their leadership and support.

Alivia Pence Advances into Crucial Water Quality Role
Alivia joined Corbett Water in June of 2023 as a Temporary Field Worker, but her aptitude was immediately apparent, and she was quickly hired on full time. Alivia has now completed the one year of on-the-job experience and passed the rigorous knowledge test necessary to become our “Direct Responsible in Charge” for Treatment, a legally required role that is responsible for making sure our water is clean and safe to drink. Alivia monitors our water 24 hours per day, bringing her laptop wherever she goes and often leaving it near her bedside at night.

Tips to save money and conserve water!
● Turn off the water when brushing your teeth.
● Run the dishwasher and washing machine only when they are full.
● Take shorter showers.
● Fix broken toilets and leaking faucets
