Recently, Multnomah County gave us access to their public alert system, Everbridge. This system can only be used in emergencies (like a boil water notice, or to let you know that your water will be turned off), but it is much more powerful than our basic automatic phone call technology. We can send phone calls, texts, and emails to inform you about urgent matters within the District. Everbridge is called a “confirm to stop” system, which means that the system will try different methods of reaching you until you acknowledge the message. For instance, if you don’t press 1 to acknowledge the phone call, the system will send you a text, and then an email, and so on. If you have more than one contact who needs to be notified, simply don’t acknowledge the message you receive, and the system will keep going down your contact list.
